The Liefering Tunnel, a critical transport hub in Salzburg, Austria, was fitted with an Aquasys fire-fighting system in 2016. This system is helping to significantly boost safety for around 90,000 vehicles a day.
The installed water mist system protects the entire driving route through the two-tube tunnel. Each of the two 510-metre-long tunnel tubes has four driving lanes, which will be protected in the event of a fire by a water flow rate of 4600 l/min. With more than 2700 high-pressure water mist nozzles installed and an innovative design, the system ensures an ideal distribution of the water mist in the hazardous area.
