The Thu Thiem Tunnel in Ho-Chi-Minh City is a road tunnel that crosses under the Saigon River. Construction of the 1,490 metre long underwater tunnel began in 2004 and was officially opened in 2011 after seven years of construction.
To increase traffic safety, the tunnel area under the water has recently been retrofitted with the AQUASYS high-pressure water mist system, the effectiveness of which has been successfully proven to ensure fast and effective firefighting measures in the case of fire. The tunnel was closed for three days to test its functionality and re-opened with a great amount of media attention.
This success is the result of the dedicated work of the local partners and our project management, who worked almost day and night to ensure safety in the tunnel.
