The Thu Thiem Tunnel in Ho Chi Minh City is a road tunnel that crosses under the Saigon River. Construction of the 1,490-metre-long underwater tunnel began in 2004 and was officially opened in 2011 after seven years of construction.
To increase traffic safety, the tunnel area under the water has recently been retrofitted with the AQUASYS high-pressure water mist system, the effectiveness of which has been successfully proven to ensure fast and effective fire-fighting measures in the event of a fire. The tunnel was closed for three days to test its functionality and then reopened with a great deal of media attention.
This success is the result of the dedicated work of the local partners and our project management, who worked almost day and night to ensure safety in the tunnel.
